Trooper Attendance: Rebel Legion: Dark Dora - DZ Major Payne - R2D2 Redav - C3PO Redback Garrison: Bam - TK Blue - IC Diatium - TK Disco - TK MyKill - ID Studio 49 - Vader Teiwaz - TB Support Crew: Darth Temptress Details: The Robotronica Robotics and Technology Spectacular is hosted by QUT every two years. In 2015 the 501st, RL and D2L clubs left a great impression, and that was why the organisers invited us back and made a substantial donation on our behalf. Being a free, all ages event with lots to see and do, combined with perfect weather, the crowd was over 22000 and was solid all day. With those crowds and 11 people in the roster, we needed a static display to troop safely. Aside from a change room in Y block, QUT provided 2 marquees in a great location on Main Drive. One marquee for the raffle table and a walled marquee change room for the less mobile characters. With the big flags and R2D2 chirping most of the day, we weren't hard to find. Thanks to MyKill and Officeworks Browns Plains, we had two great raffle prizes. A Google Home (RRP$198) and a Samsung VR Gear (RRP$159). The tech nature of the prizes proved popular with the Robotronica crowd, and ticket sales were steady all day. There was even a gathering at 3pm for the draw. Naturally with that crowd our stars were the droids. R2D2 and C3PO as a pair were people magnets, fascinating young and old. Long queues kept Vader busy too. The photos and the donations flowed constantly all day. The performance of everyone on the team was as relentless as the crowds. Troopers just stepped up to support each other all day. They all pulled long stints in costume, as well as spruiking, wrangling and selling raffle tickets. It wasn't just the effort in raising money, it was those long stints to make sure as many people as possible got a photo with their favourite characters. Take a bow folks, you should be very proud. I'll close off with the feedback from the organisers. On behalf of the Robotronica 2017 team, we would like to personally thank you for participating in this year’s event and making it such a great success. Over 22,000 people attended the event and we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Such a strong response from audiences wouldn’t have been possible without you and your team’s passion, dedication and imagination. I would ask you to pass on our congratulations and thanks to all who worked with you on the day. Once again you guys were a huge hit, and you put a smile on so many peoples' faces. Charity Funds Raised: $3280.50 for MS Queensland. (Robotronica $2000. Buckets $762.50. Raffle $518). Injuries / Malfunctions: Nil Public Incidents: Nil Mission Status: Complete Success.
